Our Mission:

To avoid drowning and help everyone achieve their personal best by providing the finest learn to swim, competitive, Open Water, and Triathlon programs.

California Swim Academy is a learn to swim program for children, adults and all different skill levels. The core purpose is to teach water safety and inspire love for the water. Since our inception we have taught  water safety and the importance of knowing how to swim.

We utilize the swim-float-swim technique as our foundation, and focus on providing swimmers with the knowledge of confidence and safety in and around the water. From these basic skills we take students from beginning stages of swimming all the way to learning all 4 strokes, freestyle, backstroke, breaststrokebutterfly,  and competitive swimming.

Our program offers a variety of lessons to meet every parents needs. From  Children Private Lessons, Adult Private Lessons, Swim Team Preparation, and US Masters Swimming -TriSwim Lab (Adult Learn to Swim, Open Water & Triathlon) , you can find it all at the California Swim Academy.

  • Amazing and effective swimming teacher
    Stephanie Lo  5 star

Coach Leo is an amazing and effective swimming teacher. He’s friendly and professional. Most importantly, my son did not know how to swim before Coach Leo. Just by the 4th lesson, he was able to swim breaststroke and to swim one lap by himself by the 5th lesson. Coach Leo is great!!

  • This is the best swimming lesson for kids.
Coach Leo is very nice and patient and he is excellent in teaching my girl swimming. From the beginning, my girl didn't know how to swim at all even she joined a few group swimming lessons before.  I am so surprised she learned a lot of swimming technique as like breast stroke, side stroke, front crawl and back crawl with in only 4 lessons. I am very appreciated Coach Leo to teach my daughter and she is pretty good in swimming now. Thank you very much! Coach Leo: )

  • Leo's Teaching skills are amazing.
Leo's teaching skills are amazing. He focused on proper techniques of swimming and he was able to use his experience to help me to improve my swimming skills. There were some subtle things that were wrong with my stroke and breathing that he was able to notice and point out.

  • Heartfelt letter from parents of my former swimmer
First a long over due THANK YOU for all that you have done for the 11-12 boys, but most importantly what you have done for our son- Marke. I know in the beginning it a was a little touch and go, not know if he would be able to keep up with the other boys in the group. But you had faith and believed in his potential as a swimmer. He practiced hard and consistently showed up ready to swim.  You created something magical with those boys. Not only did you foster a love for swimming, but also discipline and healthier eating habits.

Over winter break, we took Marke and James Lee to the movies. They ordered popcorn and soda and keep telling each other.. “I’m going to tell Coach Leo on you” It was sweet. Of course the boys never listen to their parents when we tell them it’s too much sugar.  :-)

Marke is continuing to do well, but he misses you as his Coach. He swam at the WSTA meet a few weeks ago. I could tell he was nervous because it was his first meet without you. He wasn’t sure what it was going to be like with Coach Kristine. This is the first time he is swimming under her- so he was nervous. He did well ( a few summer JO cuts) and was a bit relieved that all his hard work with you did pay off, even though you weren’t there to coach him. He remembers your words and coaching and implements them in the pool.

So now onto Winter JO’s. This was his first WJO’s. I’m glad he had been at other championship meets- so he wasn’t as nervous. We looked up the Far Western times for 2014.  The time cuts were even faster than 2013.  I told Marke not to worry, just swim fast and listen to his Coaches. Hector was at the meet as well, so that was helpful. He swam his 50 back and he missed the cut by .13  He finished with a 31.62. He held his head up and said that’s okay I have 2 more events.

He went on to swim the 200 back dropped 4.72 secs. finishing with a 2:21.74. He had made his first Far Western time cut. Later that evening he was excited because he was swimming the 400 Medley relay, which meant he had 2 chances to swim the 100 back for a Far Western time cut. Well his relay team got DQ’d. Now he was down to 1 chance the next morning.

We came back to the pool Monday morning - a bit tired, but he was ready to swim. It was a bit nerve wracking because they were late posting the heat assignments. He told me “don’t worry Mom - I know what to do”  He was heat 7- lane 7 swimming next to Ashot.  He needed to drop about 1.5 secs..  Marke had an amazing swim, came first in his heat and swam a 1:05.40. He made his second Far Western time cut and was second alternate for the finals.

Marke doesn’t like the Santa Clarita pool, but that pool has been good to him. That is where he made his first summer JO cut as a 10under and the same pool where he made his first Far Western cut as an 11-12 yr old. :-)

So now he has 2 Far Western and 2 Super Jo’s and 1 Consideration time. but that’s okay because he can’t swim the consideration event at Super Jo’s anyways. This morning on the way to school, he said to me. Mom - now I have to get my SCSRT time cuts. :-)

We wish you had been with the boys, but understand your reasons- FAMILY is the MOST important and especially when kids are little. You would have been proud of the boys and their swims this weekend.

THANK YOU for being a part of Marke's life, even if it was for a short period of time. It’s important to have positive roles models, especially in the world of youth sports, I was even more pleased for Marke to have an Asian Coach. :-)

Thank you for solidifying the foundation of Marke’s swimming. You have made a difference for him, not just as a swimmer but also as a young boy who is becoming a teenager. We will forever be grateful for the lessons you have taught our son.

    With heartfelt thanks-
    Michael and Morgan Fanelli
    Marke’s parents.

  • Great coach! Very experienced.
Great coach! Very experienced. My son had him just for one summer, once a week.  I could see big improvements in my son's stroke technique even after just one practice.  Now my son is in high school junior varsity team and he is doing very well.  His 50 free went from 35 seconds to 26 seconds and his 50 breaststroke went from 40 seconds to 31 seconds.  All this happened in matter of a few months.  Great job Leo!  Thank you.

  • Coaching of Leo LIN
I have been learning from Leo for over a month. Really impressed by his coaching style. He analyses and explains the swimming techniques. It has helped me a lot knowing the logic behind how to keep myself balanced and swim efficiently.

I have found that training with Coach Leo has been a very positive experience from start to finish. I can not believe how much progress I have made in such a short period of time. Coach Leo is a fantastically knowledgeable swim coach. He is experienced, engaging, disciplined and prepared for each lesson and he has a clear passion for teaching. He created a swim training program that has seen me not just correcting on my weakness, but also enhancing my strengths, giving me quick improvements towards efficient swimming. If you are in doubt about lessons, just like I was, I would encourage you to put your doubts aside and 'take the plunge'!
